Passivhaus Trust announce awards finalists

The UK’s Passivhaus Trust has announced the finalists for its 2014 Passivhaus Awards, which are sponsored by Saint-Gobain.

In the architectural design category, which is sponsored by Munster Joinery, the finalists are the the Burnham Overy Staithe development of three social housing units in Norfolk, by Parsons & Whittley Architects; the Hindolveston Road social housing project in Fulmodeston, Norfolk by Mole Architects; and the Standings Court development of 38 social housing units — 12 of which are passive — in West Sussex, by MH Architects.

In the bespoke projects category, which is sponsored by Ecology Building Society, the finalists are the barn-inspired private dwelling in Ayrshire, Scotland by Kirsty Maguire Architects (pictured above); the River Studio office building in Leamington Spa by Sjolander de Cruz Architects; and the Stories Mews live/work building in Camberwell, London by Richard Dudzicki Architects.

In the cost and buildability category, which is sponsred by Saint Gobain, the finalists are the Coventry Eco House project by Beattie Passive, Encraft and Force; the Crawfordsburn private dwelling in Northern Ireland by Paul McAlister Architects Ltd; and the Hart Lea development in Sandicare, Debyshire, by Encraft.
